Broken Journey

She sets hardened feet onto roads of jagged glass
Blood-drop, breadcrumbs mark her tortured path
Each new step a sacrament to a sacrificial past

Slick soles slip, blood thick across razor-edged ways
Streaming, liquid rubies flow beneath her weary stare
Showing red veined trails on her road of despair

She claws, broken fingernails dragging broken body
She crawls, in desperation to reach her goal
Lacerating mind, body and shredding apart her soul

As tears mix with the last blood she has to give
She loses her fight, her will to live
Closing her tired eyes she only hopes they can forgive
